But there’s one thing above all that will most definitely bring life to your backyard paradise, both in terms of looks and sound. And that, of course, is a water feature. Be it a pond, water garden, waterfall or a nice fountain.

The water brings life by adding a really natural and fresh look, as well as the sound that it produces. Need more reasons to add a water feature?  Check out our list below.

1. Naturally Aesthetically Pleasing

Water features compliment and elevate your property’s style and elegance.
A beautifully designed water feature, such as a cascading waterfall that empties into a pond will transform any home.

2. Stress Relief

The tranquility of pond is an active stress reliever. The sound of the water will help lower your blood pressure
and even help ward off anxiety and panic attacks. Science explains why we feel more relaxed by looking at water on a biological level.
Seeing or hearing the soothing sounds of moving water triggers a response in our brains that induces a flood of neurochemicals.
These chemicals increase blood flow to the brain and heart, which induces relaxation.

3. Rejuvenation

After a long and tiresome day, there is nothing that can better help you energize and recover like a water garden or pond.
The water purifies the air and rejuvenates the negative ions around the pond, creating a better recovery environment.

6. Add Koi - Friendly Pets

Koi will eat right out of your hand. you can place food on your hand and then lower it slowly for them to nibble.
This makes owning koi so endearing.
The koi is an ideal fish for outdoor life as they are a coldwater fish that can adapt to many climate and water conditions.
This makes them an ideal domesticated fish.

7. Add Koi - Good Luck

In Japan, the koi fish symbolizes luck, prosperity, good fortune, strength, perseverance – basically everything good.

8. Add Koi - Insect Control

Mosquitos and flies are common around gardens, but if you add koi fish to your pond, you can effectively rid yourself of these nuisance-causing pests. The fish will eat those irritating bugs and their larva.

“There is something in water that speaks to the soul of every living thing,” Rose said. “I am without roots when I do not have a water feature in my world.”

Rose convinced her husband, Doug, to build a pond by talking about the sounds of the waterfall that would be just outside their bedroom window.

“You see, he is blind,” Rose said. “I had to use the sound approach. Now he is in love with ponds as I am. He lies beside the water with his hand in waiting for a fish to

swim by. In fact, it is part of our routine to let him feel the fish that I catch to transport to a different location.”

encouraging dragonflies and other insects and wildlife into my yard,” she said. “I used to wander the hills and find the wild ponds

and hunt for turtles, snakes and fish. Some of my fondest memories are by those ponds!”
